HITCHIN: A Good Samaritan helped in the aftermath of a road traffic accident in our town.

Police were called at just after 515pm on Thursday (March 3) following a road traffic collision in Bedford Road, Hitchin.

Hitchin Nub News understands that two motorcycles were involved and one rider had come off his bike as a result of the incident near to The Angels pub on Bedford Road.

A passer by stopped to assist and ensured the road was not left blocked while officers made their way to the scene.

An eye-witness told Nub News: "I saw a man being treated by paramedics on the pavement next to the traffic lights. He was lying on his back as they tended to him. I hope he is ok."

Police confirmed with Nub News that the injured rider made his own way to hospital to be checked over. The second rider was uninjured.

Officers left the scene by 715pm.
