[H1]A Hitchin man has turned to an unlikely method of communication in helping to tell ordinary Russians the truth about what is happening in Ukraine - restaurant reviews.[H1]

[H2]In a bid to counter Vladimir Putin's propaganda about the war in Ukraine, a man from Hitchin called Kris is doing his part to change opinion on the ground in Russia.[H2]

As the dreadful situation in the Ukraine deteriorates still further, more than one million people including women, children and the elderly are fleeing for safety.

Trains leaving major cities such as Kyiv for the border are packed. Large queues at border crossing points are growing daily, with reports of many families waiting days in freezing temperatures to reach neighbouring states.

The humanitarian crisis, along with war crimes committed against the Ukrainian people has seen world opinion united against the bloodthirsty totalitarian dictator.

However, many in Russia are still unaware of such a catastrophic situation created entirely by Vladimir Putin.

The official government line is that the Russian army is carrying out a small operation, and that it is Ukraine itself that is seeking to start a full-scale war.

With draconian laws passed that will see people jailed for 15 years for even mentioning the war in Ukraine, it is vital that the truth about the appalling invasion is shared with ordinary Russians.

[H2]Which is where citizens such as Kris from Hitchin come into action.[H2]

'Hacktivists' have declared a cyber war against Russia, with global hacking group Anonymous at the forefront of such operations.

While the group has already claimed responsibility for disrupting the websites of an oil giant, a state-controlled media agency, and a number of websites affiliated with the Russian and Belarusian governments, it is the hundreds - and thousands - of ordinary people around the globe such as Kris in Hitchin, that are also aiming to sway Russian opinion.

Kris, who has already helped fundraise for the brave people of Ukraine through his position as boss of popular Hitchin pub The Orange Tree (read about his heart-warming efforts here) takes up the story.

"It is important to stand united with Ukraine and help in any way we can,"[ Kris tell Nub News. "For example, we are trying to share the truth of what is happening with Russian people.

"The way we have been doing this is to Google a Russian business such as a restaurant or cafe or bar and so on."

Kris explains he, and many ordinary people like him, also target sports clubs.

He says: "We identify a Russian football team, or hockey team or basketball team big and small, and on their website or pages, we post a comment.

"However instead of the comment being about the sport, we write the truth about what is happening in Ukraine. Or we post a picture or image of the bombing and shelled out buildings.

"It is important to stress that we do not leave a bad review that will affect the restaurant, no, we simply post truth about the situation that people can read safety. I have posted many and so have others.

"If ordinary people all around the world can do the same it will mean more people in Russia can read the truth about what their leader is doing. We do not have conflict with ordinary Russians.

"We only want to share the truth that their media is suppressing."
