Stevenage's spot-kick saving hero Jamie Cumming has shared his joy at helping to send his side through to the third round of the FA Cup.

The highly-rated 21-year-old is on loan from Premier League giants Chelsea for the season, and excelled at the Lamex on Sunday afternoon as the lowly side from north Herts beat opponents 45 places above.

Cumning saved two spot-kicks in the dramatic shootout as Boro beat League One leaders Hull City 6-5 on penalties after a 1-1 draw after extra time.

Speaking after the match Cumming said: "It's an amazing feeling. For a keeper it's the best way to win.

"I'm almost a bit annoyed I didn't save the penalty in normal time - but I think I played well apart from that, and it's a massive win for this football club."

The Winchester-born net minder has shown his quality throughout what has been a difficult campaign so far for Alex Revell's Boro - and excelled against the Tigers.

Cumming saved from Tom Eaves and Sean McLoughlin to send Stevenage through. Earlier the young Chelsea star was beaten by a 51st minute penalty from Hull's No9 Eaves as the visitors went ahead after the interval.

However, Elliot List equalised on 78 minutes to send the tie into extra time.

I did a lot of homework on five or six of their players in case it went to penalties. But I didn't save one of those, they changed the way they took them!

"I think it's better when you rely on your instincts."
