The owners of a Hitchin pub have appealed for help after their distinctive Land Rover Defender was stolen overnight.

The olive green Land Rover, which has been a familiar sight outside The Victoria pub in Hitchin, was stolen during the night of September 29 from just off Lancaster Road.

The vehicle has been part of The Vic "family" for many years and will be recognisable to customers and local residents after previously being parked alongside the pub.

It is described as an olive green Land Rover Defender with a silver roof rack, white wheels, dark grey wheel arches and a dark grey front grille.

The theft has been reported to police, who are reviewing CCTV footage, while the pub is also contacting neighbours in the hope the vehicle may have been captured on private security cameras or video doorbells.

In an appeal to the community, The Vic said: "We're absolutely gutted to say that our much-loved Land Rover was stolen during the night of 29th September, from just off Lancaster Road.

"It's been part of The Vic family for many years and plenty of you would have recognised it from when it sat alongside the pub a while back on our little corner of Hitchin.

"It's pretty distinctive, so we're really hoping somebody may have seen it either on the night or since.

"We'd be incredibly grateful for the support to help us find it. If you see the vehicle, please get in touch with us asap. Even a small detail about where or when you saw it could help."

A cash reward is being offered for information which leads to the Land Rover being located and recovered.

The Vic added: "Please share far and wide. We'd really, really like to bring this member of The Vic family home."

Anyone who saw the Land Rover on the night of September 29, or who has subsequently spotted the vehicle, is urged to contact The Vic or Hertfordshire Police.
