An evocative express steam train is coming to Hitchin this weekend.

A stunning steam express with the rather more prosaic name Black 5 No. 44871 steam locomotive is set to make a scheduled stop at Hitchin Railway Station this weekend.

The beguiling steam locomotive will be picking up passengers at Stevenage at 825am on Saturday (February 24), as part of The Railway Touring Company's White Rose trip from London's King's Cross to York.

The beautiful engine - sure to attract passionate trainspotters - will then pass through Hitchin at 831am.

"We leave London King's Cross in the morning behind Black 5 and follow the East Coast Main Line route of famous express trains like the Flying Scotsman," says official website of the Railways Touring Company.

Will you be visiting Hitchin Railway Station on Saturday morning to get a glimpse of the mesmerising steam locomotive?
