Wemyss caused a 21 month old boy internal injuries which required surgery.

The 33-year-old was convicted of causing grievous bodily harm and child cruelty at Luton Crown Court.

The court heard abuser Wemyss was living in Dunstable, Beds, when he caused bruises to the boy's face and then shook him three days later, causing the toddler to vomit.

The youngster was taken to Luton and Dunstable Hospital and transferred to Addenbrooke's in Cambridge for specialist care.
