Officers are appealing for witnesses, information and dash cam footage following a serious road traffic collision in Hitchin.

At 1025am on Wednesday, May 31, police were called to a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Queen Street, outside Asda Superstore.

Officers and the East of England Ambulance Service attended, as well as the air ambulance.

The pedestrian, a woman in her 90s, was taken to hospital in a serious condition, where she remains.

The driver remained at the scene and assisted officers with their enquiries.

PC Alison Elderfield, of the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "I'd like to hear from anyone who witnessed this collision, or has dash cam footage of it, to get in touch with us.

"We are investigating the circumstances of the incident and any further information people may have could assist this.

"If you can help, I can be contacted directly by email via [email protected]."

Call the non-emergency number 101, quoting ISR 234 of 31 May.
