Hitchin: Three people arrested after drugs, weapons and knuckle duster seized in Westmill Road and Swinburne Avenue raids

Three people have been arrested with firearms and drugs seized, after three warrants were executed in Hitchin.
Acting on information provided by the public, at around 1pm on Wednesday 31 May, officers from the Hitchin Safer Neighbourhood Team, supported by the BCH Dog Unit, the Operational Support Group, Special Constabulary, the Armed Policing Unit, and forensic officers, entered three different addresses in the town.
At a property in Westmill Road two people were arrested. A 31 year old man from Hitchin was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and possession of two viable firearms with ammunition. And a 22 year old man, also from Hitchin, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and possession of Class B drugs.
Then at an address in Swinburne Avenue, a further man, aged 53 and from Hitchin, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs and possession of offensive weapons. A baton and knuckle duster were seized.
At the final address, also in Swinburne Avenue, further drugs were located and seized.
Safer Neighbourhood Sergeant Taz Gill said: "We are committed to tackling drug crime in North Herts and this action was a direct result of information provided by members of the public. Please keep reporting your concerns to us. We may not be able to act immediately, but this does not mean we won't. We need to have the right people in the right place at the right time, so please keep the information coming."
