Farmers on Christmas Lights Tour is a huge hit in Hitchin

An eagerly-awaited event in Hitchin has been hailed as a big success - while raising cash for a much-loved North Herts charity.

The Farmers on Christmas Lights Tour returned to our town over the weekend to bring punters a huge dose of festive cheer - tractor-style - a week before the big day.

The annual event was in aid of the Garden House Hospice and, as you can see by our pictures, a number of tractors and farm vehicles covered in Christmas lights and decorations took part.

The colourful convoy drove through Baldock, Letchworth and Hitchin in a memorable sight that put a smile on the faces of everyone who witnessed the procession, young and old.

As our Nub News gallery shows, plenty of residents turned out on the streets to support the return of the popular festive farmers.

Fabio's Gelato owner - whose Hitchin store is on Market Place, with his special first floor room overlooking the display - spoke to Nub News to give his reaction on the family-friendly event.

"Wow, wow, wow, what a night we had in Hitchin and Letchworth," passionate Fabio - dubbed the Ice Cream alchemist - told us.

"It's events like this that lift our winter spirits and seeing the community come together like this for such a great cause warms our hearts.

"Our teams in both shops smashed it as always - and with a smile on their faces too."

Fabio added:  "A huge thank you to the event organisers, our team and every individual who visited us on Saturday night."

Kind-hearted Fabio added: Please do if you can support the cause by donating here https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/xmastractors Alternatively text TRACTOR to 70460 to donate £5
