It might be lockdown but it seems certain anti-social behaviours are still continuing in north Herts.

Fly-tippers have dumped rubble and rubbish at a beauty spot near to Hitchin this week.

Lockdown escape, Wilbury Hill, has been the target of unscrupulous fly-tippers in the past, and appears to have been used again.

A walker who came across the eyesore told Hitchin Nub News: "Someone (cowboy builders?) had fly tipped a significant pile of rubble in the car park including what appeared to be asbestos sheeting.

"You can clearly see that corrugated asbestos sheeting on the top left of the pile, together with bricks and other rubbish."

The fly-tipping of waste is a serious criminal offence, it carries a maximum penalty of an unlimited fine or up to five years imprisonment. It is also an offence to permit fly-tipping on your land or land that you rent.

North Herts District Council have been informed, who said: "We treat fly tipping very seriously and will prosecute anyone caught."
