Freestyle football star brings mental health message to Hitchin Town play-off final
By James Denselow 28th May 2026
More than 3,000 supporters packed into Top Field earlier this month as Hitchin Town FC took on Biggleswade in the Southern League Central Division Play-Off Final.
But alongside the drama on the pitch, fans were also treated to a special halftime performance carrying an important message about mental health.
Football freestyler Jay Rosa entertained the crowd with a high-energy display of tricks, close control and crowd interaction during the break in play, helping lift the atmosphere at one of the club's biggest matches in recent years.
Rosa's appearance formed part of his nationwide stadium tour aimed at raising awareness of mental health and encouraging people to speak openly about their wellbeing.
Using freestyle football as a platform, he hopes to break down stigma surrounding mental health and promote support and communication within football communities.
Speaking about the campaign, Rosa said: "This tour isn't just about football. It's about connection, support and reminding people they're not alone."
The performer has now visited more than 70 stadiums across the UK, using matchday appearances to engage supporters of all ages and spark conversations around mental health.
His message resonated with many at Top Field, where supporters applauded both the entertainment and the cause behind it.
