Much-loved Garden House Hospice have hailed the inspirational Betty-Leigh Allinson after her incredible fundraising exploits led to a Wembley date.

As we reported this week the amazing Betty was selected to be honoured at an England game played at the national stadium this month after raising a stunning £32k for the hospice.

Betty was part of the Lionhearts, a 'squad' of 23 heroes selected by a renowned panel that included Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate.

The criteria to join such a select group was to do with individuals up and down the land who saved lives, inspired communities or made a difference to others.

They were then invited to Wembley to receive the acclaim of the 67,000 crowd at halt time during the recent England vs Andorra World Cup qualifier at the national stadium.

After we posted the story on Wednesday, Garden House responded on our official Hitchin Nub News Instagram page with a wonderful message praising Betty.

They wrote: "She's a superstar! Thank you for your continued incredible fundraising, Betty and for inspiring many others to join you in supporting the Hospice. We hope you enjoyed your day out at Wembley."

The acclaimed Hospice also kindly added: "Thank you also to @hitchinnubnews for continually supporting our work and helping to spread the word about your local charity!"

............

Nub News adds: We're humbled, thank you - but far more importantly: Well done Betty, and keep up the great work Garden House Hospice!
