Hertfordshire County Council to "lobby the Government" to accelerate reforms to adult social care

The Adult Care Services Cabinet Panel has endorsed proposals to write to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care in response to the proposed timescales for the Casey Commission into Adult Social Care.
The Leader of Hertfordshire County Council, Cllr Steve Jarvis, will urge Government to make more timely decisions about the future of adult social care and to ensure that the proposed Fair Pay Agreement for care workers comes with the associated funding to implement it.
This commitment to supporting those who most need the County Council's help forms part of the new administration's 10-point plan of priority actions in their first 100 days.
Executive Member for Adult Care Services, Cllr Sally Symington, said: "Making sure that we are supporting the people who most need our help is at the heart of this new administration's vision.
"While we welcome the Casey Commission and much-needed reforms to adult social care, we are concerned that the Government's plans to present recommendations in 2028 will be too late for the many Hertfordshire residents who receive adult social care and support, as well as the family and friends who help care for them.
"The Leader will be writing to Government to raise this matter as well as to ask that councils receive sufficient funding to help deliver the Fair Pay Agreement for care workers, who deserve competitive pay that reflects the value of their work."
