Herts Police offering help to those affected by hate crimes in Hitchin including LQBT+ abuse

North Herts Hate Crime Officer Dee Marr (pictured below) will be in Hitchin Market Place on Wednesday, June 21, along with local PCSO Cynthia Combe.

They will be raising awareness of hate crime and offering advice and support to anyone who believes they may have been a victim of this type of crime.

A hate crime is any criminal offence where a person is targeted because of hostility or prejudice towards their race, religion, sexual orientation, disability or transgender identity.

"Unfortunately, hate crime continues to be an issue and we take it very seriously," explained Dee. "No one should be targeted because of their race, religion or sexual identity and we are committed to tackling this type of crime, with specialist support for those who have been affected by it."

Dee will have lots of information and advice on hand and you can arrange a time to speak to her privately if needs be.

She will be in the market square between 11am and 2pm. Please stop by and speak to Dee if you would like further information.
