Could it be fourth time lucky for a well-known takeaway in Hitchin?

Uptown Pizza & Kebab have asked for permission to extend its opening times, after three previous requests were rejected by the council.

The popular takeaway at 151b Bearton Road on the corner of Brampton Park Road, has submitted a planning application aiming to open from 11am until midnight, seven days a week.

At the moment, Uptown are only allowed to open from 730am until 1030pm on weekdays and Saturdays

Permission for their current hours was first allowed nearly 20 years ago, but since then three separate proposals for permission to extend their hours have been rejected by the council.

Hitchin residents may recall previous occupants on the site including Istanbul BBQ House and Tasty Kebabs, with UpTown Pizza officially assuming the lease seven years ago.
