Angels, wood from the Holy Land and banana leaves will be featuring in a unique festival coming soon to our area.

Families in Hitchin are warmly welcomed to visit a popular offbeat nativity crib festival next month.

The St Ippolyts Church Nativity Crib Festival is set to be one of the festive highlights in our region - complete with angels and crib sets from all around the world.

Speaking to Hitchin Nub News, organisers said: Come along and see our beautiful medieval church packed full of Nativity crib sets from all around the world all over looked by a host of angels.

"It will be fabulous to be back in the church this year with, hopefully, more cribs than ever to see - we had 200 in 2019 - and a host of angels.

"Each crib has a card telling its own 'story', learning about what makes the crib important to its family is what really makes the Crib Festival so special."

Event organisers say that they will be featuring cribs from all around the world - from Alaska to New Zealand.

Organisers added: "They also say that the cribs will be made from everything that you could possibly imagine and some that you couldn't imagine – wood from the Holy Land to banana leaves and citrus.

The event will be held on Saturday, December 4 and Sunday, December 5 between 11am to 5pm.

Entry is £3, children are free.
