It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

With lockdown now over, the square in Hitchin has been a hive of activity as stallholders prepare for the town's Christmas Market.

The eagerly-awaited Hitchin Christmas Market will now be operating for three weeks from tomorrow, Thursday, December 3 to Tuesday, December 22.

Busy town centre manager Tom Hardy told Hitchin Nub News earlier this week: "It's so important to shop local this Christmas, so, with lockdown ending, why not visit Hitchin's Christmas Market from Thursday, while also taking in our brilliant independent stores."

While Hitchin MP Bim Afolami tweeted his support, saying: "Great to see."

The market will offer plenty of food stalls, as well as mulled wine, luxury products and stocking fillers are all set to be on offer by some of the town's renowned independent shops who have signed up.

The log cabin Christmas chalets in the square has been pencilled in to start trading on November 24 but the second lockdown of 2020 put paid to that, with the dates pushed back by Hitchin BID organisers.
