A kind-hearted master butcher from Hitchin and his customers have helped to raise money for a food rescue group.

Keith Jones, whose popular butcher's shop on Redhill Road has won acclaim from so many in our area, hosted a raffle which raised nearly £600 for Ickleford Food Community Larder.

Food rescue is the practice of saving edible food that would otherwise go to waste from places such as restaurants and grocery stores and distributing it to local emergency food programs - including the group at Ickleford near Hitchin.

Speaking to Nub News big-hearted Keith said: "The raffle was a great success.

"Between everyone we raised £580 for the Ickleford Community Larder for their new van to collect reuse foods.

"We'd just like to say a really thank you to the customers for buying tickets."

Kieth added: "The raffle prize was a monthly mega hamper, and the winner, Leigh Coombs is very kindly splitting the pack into two or three to help families in need.

"We got involved as the larder do so much good work and to get a van is very important to them."
