An independent bookshop in Hitchin town centre is backing a project to support a reading charity.

Next Page Books specialises in publications supporting and celebrate neurodiversity - and for the whole of February, 10 per cent of the profit from all children's books bought from Next Page Books on Bookshop.org will be donated to BookTrust.

BookTrust reach millions of children every year with books, resources and support for families to get every child reading regularly, and by choice.

BookTrust aim to get children reading, especially those from low-income families or vulnerable backgrounds.

Liz Tye, co-director of Next Page Books, said: "At Next Page Books we are so passionate about the importance of early reading, and getting books into the hands of all young readers.

"We are very excited about the Read It Forward initiative, and will be sharing some of our favourite inclusive and diverse books to readers in February."

As Nub News has been reporting, the store on Queen Street is also gearing up to host acclaimed Hitchin children's author Danny Pearson speak about the Beano on Saturday (February 3).

Next Page say: "Come along to learn about writing for the Beano, to see original artwork and retro comics.

"We know Danny will get you all involved, answer questions and sign lots of books."
