Updated: Hitchin Nub News readers react to vote of confidence in Boris Johnson and the lack of comment from MP Bim Afolami

Boris Johnson is set to face a no-confidence vote today, Monday (June 6) as a raft of Tory MPs called on him to go.

Graham Brady, the Chair of 1922 Committee - the body that represents backbench Tories - said the threshold of 54 letters seeking the PM's departure has been reached - triggering a vote of no confidence this evening.

To stay in office, Johnson needs to win the support of at least 50% of all Tory MPs plus one, totalling 180. If he does win he is theoretically safe from such a challenge for a year – although the rules can be changed.

Despite repeated requests from Hitchin Nub News, Hitchin MP Bim Afolami has refused to comment on the situation.
