Policing priorities for Hitchin Town have set for next three months thanks to your input.

The Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) in Hitchin Town have now set their new policing priorities for the next three months.

They include anti-social behaviour in Market Place, Churchgate and Windmill Hill along with dealing with overloaded and dangerous lorries and combatting speeding on various roads throughout our town, including Old Hale Way.

The SNT is responsible for dealing with short and long-term neighbourhood issues, such as anti-social behaviour (ASB) and criminal damage, and they work with local partners, including North Herts District Council, to ensure that Hitchin is a safe place to live and work.

Feedback from local residents, which has been submitted via 'echo' and OWL, has been analysed by local officers and the following priorities have been set.

The dedicated Hitchin Town team of PCs and PCSOs will now be working to address them:

1) Speedingparticularly in Cambridge Road, Bedford Road, Old Hale Way and Stotfold Road

2) Lorries using Grove Road and Fishponds Road being uncovered and ignoring the local weight restrictions in the area

3) Anti-social behaviour taking place in Hitchin Market, Market Square, Churchgate and Windmill Hill

Safer Neighbourhood Sergeant Jenny Wild said: "These are the issues that matter most to local residents and I would like to thank them for taking the time in sharing

their concerns with us.

It's really useful to understand what issues are really affecting their lives, so we can tailor our patrol plans to tackle these as priorities.

"These priorities will be reviewed again in December, but in the meantime, you can still provide us with feedback using echo.

"Simply go to bit.ly/police-hitchinurban and have your say. It's important to note that some comments we receive are about things that aren't police matters, such as parking and litter, however we do pass these comments to our partner agencies, such as North Herts District Council so that they are aware and can look to tackle them."
