Katie’s PRIDE: A Hitchin Project Growing Into a Brand With Purpose
By Katie Wilson 10th Mar 2026
After five years of quietly spreading kindness, unity, and hope through her community newsletter, Hitchin resident Katie Wilson is taking a thoughtful new step: developing Katie's PRIDE into a small, values‑driven brand designed to keep the project sustainable.
The newsletter — which has become a familiar source of positivity for many local people — has been supported over the years through a mixture of amazing sponsors, generous donations, and Katie funding much of it herself. Katie says the project has always been a labour of love.
"I do this for others, but I also do it for myself," she explains. "Katie's PRIDE gives me purpose and connection. I want it to continue — not as a charity, but as something that can stand on its own."
With printing costs rising, Katie has decided to introduce a small range of supporter merchandise to help the newsletter become self‑financing. The first item will be a purple silicone wristband featuring the slogan:
"I Support Katie's PRIDE."
Future items may include keyrings, bookmarks, and other simple, affordable accessories — all designed to reflect the project's core values of kindness, unity, and hope.
Importantly, all profits will go directly back into printing costs for the newsletter. Katie is clear that this isn't about personal financial gain, but about ensuring the project can continue without relying on donations or placing the burden on any one person.
Katie's PRIDE has always been about community — about people feeling seen, valued, and connected. As the project enters this new chapter, it remains rooted in the same message that started it all: spreading kindness, one small act at a time.
