A North Hertfordshire community volunteer is preparing a gentle wellbeing initiative this November, focusing on men's mental health and grassroots football.

Katie Wilson, a local trans woman, community volunteer and North Herts PRIDE founder, has been working with Hertfordshire FA to develop simple wellbeing posters for grassroots clubs, designed to be displayed in clubhouses, changing rooms and matchday programmes.

"Football is a game that's loved by millions. It would be good to share some of that love among ourselves," Katie said.

"I'm passionate about this work because I've been there myself. I know what it's like to feel lost, and I don't want anyone in our community to feel alone."

Katie has been reaching out to grassroots football clubs and local pub chains to share gentle wellbeing messages ahead of Men's Mental Health Month.

Before November begins, she is supporting Herts Mind with a friendly pool competition fundraiser in October, helping raise money for local mental health services.

In November, she will host a gentle Movember‑themed football drop‑in session as part of her ongoing Jumpers for Goalposts project, offering a relaxed space for conversation and connection.

"These are small, simple things," Katie added. "But sometimes small things make a difference."
