Pizza to go? Uncertainty hangs over Papa John's as company prepares to close as many os 100 stores nationally.

Could a well-know pizza takeaway restaurant in Hitchin have the threat of closure hanging over it.

Hitchin Papa John's take-away is at risk of shutting, as nationwide pizza chain gears up to close 100 stores across the country.

The popular store on Nightingale Road offers delivery on a range of succulent take-aways including a raft of mouth-watering pizzas.

However, the store based at 32 and 33 Nightingale Road could be earmarked for closure.

Here's what the global retailer said: "As our second largest global market, the UK is critical to Papa Johns' long-term success.

"As we work to fully optimise our restaurant operations and improve profitability across the market, we will continue evaluating the growth potential of our restaurants.

"This includes working collaboratively with our franchisees to strategically close low-performing locations when necessary, as well as continuing to invest in the right locations for the benefit of our customers.

"We will work to fully support team members through any transitions.

"However, it's important to note that no final decisions have been made at this time."

There are currently 524 Papa Johns locations across the country, including spots in Stevenage, Hitchin, Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield, Potters Bar, St Albans and Harpenden.
