Second fire at recycling centre in two months

Police have told Hitchin residents to keep windows closed due to toxic fumes in the air.

The move comes after Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue were called to National Metal Centre, in Cadwell Lane, Hitchin, in the early hours of today, Thursday (February 8).

As Hitchin Nub News has reported previously it is the second fire in a matter of months at the industrial site after an initial blaze took hold on December 11.
