There has been a rise in Covid cases across north Herts including Hitchin.

Government figures show a rise of 22 cases in a day in our area (north Herts) to make a total of 519.

According to the latest government data, there have now been a total of 6,353 positive cases of coronavirus in our county.

This number relates to people with at least one confirmed positive test result.

The latest advice from North Herts District Council is to wash your hands, keep washing your hands regularly, cover your face, wear a face covering in enclosed spaces, make space from others by staying at least two metres apart - or one metre with a face covering or other precautions.

On Sunday, 207 people tested positive for Covid in Herts - which is 100 more than last week.

There has been a spike in numbers across Herts with more than 1,400 new cases across the month, following 4,900 people testing positive on September 1.

In total, the UK has now reported a total of 502,978 cases and 42,350 deaths.
