Police are appealing for witnesses, information and CCTV footage following an assault in Stevenage town centre.

The incident occurred between 330pm and 350pm on Sunday, March 3, when a teenage boy was approached by a group of around seven people in the town square.

The victim, a 16-year-old boy, was reportedly struck in the face multiple times.

He was subsequently checked over by ambulance staff and no injuries were reported.

PC Chloe Scott, who is investigating, said: "Our enquiries are continuing, and I am appealing for anyone with information to please get in touch.

"The group, who were described as wearing dark clothing with balaclavas and made off before police arrived, were reportedly confronted by witnesses.

"I am keen to speak to anyone who may have intervened or saw what happened, or who saw a group matching this description, in the town around the time of the incident. 

"If you have any information, CCTV, or other footage in relation to this incident, then please contact me.

"Anyone with information can email me directly at [email protected], no matter how small or insignificant you think the details you have may be."
