This year marks the Queen's Platinum Jubilee - and we'd love to hear your stories of the time Her Majesty visited Hitchin.

We want to hear your stories of our monarch visiting our town during that wonderful summer nine years ago as she gears up to mark her Platinum Jubilee this year.

Were you in Market Place when the Queen met local dignitaries including former town centre manager Keith Hoskins in 2012?

If so, please do get in touch, details at the end of this article.

In other news, a full programme of events to mark has been released by Buckingham Palace.

The Queen will be marking 70 years on the throne with a series of celebrations during 2022, with the the 95-year-old monarch opening her private estates to the public.

The Queen was ordered to rest by doctors in October last year following an overnight hospital stay so it could be that the majority of Jubilee duties will be handed to other members of the Royal Family including the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall.

What are YOUR memories of the Queen visiting Hitchin back in the summer of 2012. Did you line the streets to catch a glimpse? Were you in, or near the market square when she arrived? Email [email protected]
