Local business spotlight: Meet Arena Security — the Hitchin firm aiming to be a “one stop shop” for security
By James Denselow 14th May 2026
A Hitchin-based security company says it is combining local knowledge with cutting-edge technology as it continues to expand across Hertfordshire and beyond.
Hitchin Nub News caught up with Danny Strong from Arena Security to hear about the company's growth, new technology and future plans.
The firm now employs around 115 people and operates a fleet of more than 80 vehicles, providing 24/7 security coverage for homes, businesses and events.
Arena Security offers a wide range of services including manned guarding, mobile patrols, CCTV systems, alarm response and key holding, positioning itself as what Danny described as a "one stop shop" for security needs in Hitchin and the surrounding area.
The company is also investing heavily in technology. Arena Security has partnered with Ajax Systems, offering Grade 3 wireless-enabled alarm systems designed to provide high-level protection with minimal installation requirements.
Danny explained that the systems are designed to be simple and efficient, with many installations requiring little more than a power cable and Ethernet connection.
Ajax Superior devices detect real threats with near-zero false alarms. Motion detectors have an extremely small 30 cm (0.98 ft) blind zone, reliably capturing crawling, fast, or slow movement. Opening detectors respond to shock and tilt for early intrusion detection, while panic buttons trigger alarms with no wake-up delay. Continuous supervision and regular sensor health checks ensure timely fault and maintenance notifications, and the anti-masking system reacts to any attempt to cover or sabotage a device.
All Ajax wireless Grade 3 devices come fully equipped with all necessary communicators — no additional modules are needed. Built-in radio modules provide seamless connectivity between the hub and system devices. Alarms and events are sent from the hub to the monitoring station and Ajax apps via Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or cellular communication.
Arena Security says it is keen to offer alternatives to some of the better-known smart home products on the market, including video doorbell systems, while keeping prices competitive for local residents.
As part of its expansion plans, Arena Security is also taking on local apprentices and investing in training opportunities for young people in the area.
They've recently taken on 2 young lads to put them through their full apprenticeship with skills for security, which they will achieve qualifications in fire - intruder alarm - cctv - and access control.
The company has achieved industry recognition through SSAIB and SIA accreditations and has received awards and nominations within the security sector.
Looking ahead, Danny revealed that Arena Security is preparing to launch a new K9 division, further expanding the services available to customers.
