Molly Malones on Nightingale Road is an acclaimed public house that plays a huge part in our community.

Hitchin Eco Day at Hitchin Market Square

Join everyone this Saturday at the third annual Hitchin Eco Day, for a family friendly day in the heart of our lovely town. 

There will be stalls from eco groups and businesses, repairs, local produce and lots of exciting activities for children. 

Hosted by Plastic Free Hitchin and supported by Churches Together In Hitchin.

Plastic Free Hitchin, are an environmental group of passionate volunteers trying to make our town a cleaner space to live, work and play. 

We work closely with businesses, schools and community groups to remove single use plastics from their operations.

Spring Concert: A Journey Through Darkness and Light at St Mary's Church

Don't miss this opportunity to experience the haunting beauty and power of Rachmaninov's music. 

On Saturday, May 11, Hitchin Symphony Orchestra will present two of the composer's masterpieces: Isle of the Dead and Symphony No. 2 in E minor

Isle of the Dead is a symphonic poem that evokes the journey of a soul to the afterlife, based on a painting by Arnold Böcklin. 

Symphony No. 2 is a lush and romantic work, full of lyrical themes and dramatic contrasts. Both pieces showcase Rachmaninov's skill as an orchestrator and his expressive use of the musical language.

Stotfold Steam Fair and County Show at Mill Lane 

Stotfold Water Mill and Nature Reserve will host the exciting g community event in May, with tickets available now. 

Organisers said: "We're looking forward to welcoming you to our 20th Steam Fair and Country Show.

"Tickets are available online, and in honour of our birthday event, we're holding advance tickets at last year's prices.

"Keep checking our social media and website for details of what's happening over the Steam Fair weekend."

The event will take place on Saturday, May 11 and Sunday, May 12, from 1030am.

Kids 'Hide and Seek' Collage Workshop at North Herts Museum

Local visual artist Yoshie Allan is joining us for a limited time!

Bring your little ones along to a 45-minute session ran by Yoshie where they will draw their favourite animals, or motifs, collage them with various fabrics, and then finish them off with some playful paint to create a unique 'Hide and Seek' piece of art.

£8 per child

Suitable for children aged 6+

All children must be supervised by an adult (adults do not require a ticket)

We recommend bringing an apron for this session, which involves acrylic paint and PVA glue

Places are limited so please buy in advance

Coffee Morning to raise funds for North Herts Cats Protection

We will be holding our monthly coffee morning raising money for North Herts Cats Protection. All funds raised will go to the cats and kittens in our care. 

We sell Cats Protection new goods, bric a brac, tea, coffee and cake. 

Our volunteers are also available to talk to you about adopting a cat/kitten, volunteering for us or any other matter.

Ashwell at Home 2024 'Hidden Ashwell'

Ashwell at Home is an annual fundraising event held in the village of Ashwell in north Herts, when this beautiful and historic village welcomes visitors from near and far for a whole day of entertainment.  

The theme for 2024 is 'Hidden Ashwell' and there will be lots to see and do including a wide range of open gardens of all types and sizes, free workshops for adults and children, plant sales, live music and entertainment around the village, talks, displays and guided walks, refreshments, lunches and much more.  

Entry is by programme: £10 adults (under 18s free with accompanying paying adult) - available on the day at the event, or £9 in advance from the website: www.ashwellathome.org.uk. Parking is free.

Taco Wars in Market Place

Hitchin Street Food Monthly and Cantina Fiesta proudly present Taco Wars 2024

After a five year break, a lot of scores to settle and an insatiable love of all things taco based - Taco Wars is back.

This year's jam takes place in Hitchin Market Place with a mammoth taco session, DJ's and entertainment.

This year eight Hertfordshire based street food traders battle it out for the Tacowars Cup with their own take on the Perfect Taco.

Organsies say: "Taco lovers can buy a TacoWars ticket for the day which secures a taco from each vendor, soft drink or beer upon registration plus a Cantina Fiesta goody bag for the princely sum of £24 - that's £3 per taco plus a free beverage!"

The eagerly-awaited mouth-watering event is set to take place on Saturday May 18 from 11-5pm in Hitchin market square.
