Hitchin HR firm urges employers to prepare for new menopause workplace rules
By James Denselow 3rd Apr 2026
A Hitchin-based HR company is urging employers to start preparing now for upcoming changes to workplace menopause policies expected to affect larger organisations across the UK.
Kestrel HR says that from April 2026, publishing a Menopause Action Plan will become voluntary for organisations with more than 250 employees, ahead of mandatory reporting expected to come into force in 2027.
The company says the change gives employers time to review policies, train managers and consider workplace adjustments before reporting becomes compulsory.
The new requirements are expected to form part of wider efforts to improve workplace support and retention for women experiencing menopause, and to encourage employers to take a more structured approach to wellbeing and inclusion.
Kestrel HR is encouraging HR teams and business owners to begin preparing by:
- Understanding what the new requirements involve
- Reviewing existing policies and workplace adjustments
- Planning training for managers
- Strengthening wellbeing and inclusion policies
The Hitchin firm has produced a Menopause Action Plan factsheet to help employers understand the expected changes and what steps they may need to take.
Businesses can download the factsheet from the Kestrel HR website.
The changes are expected to primarily affect larger employers, but smaller businesses are also being encouraged to review their policies as part of wider workplace wellbeing and staff retention strategies.
