Stevenage chairman Phil Wallace has been reflecting on the decision to reinstate his club back into League Two.

The north Herts based have been celebrating after being able to remain in the fourth tier of English football following the EFL winning an appeal this week.

The move to dock Macclesfield a further four points for failing to pay players salaries has resulted in Boro staying up.

Confirmation of the decision has meant the Silkmen now drop below Stevenage in the table and back into non-league football in the National League when the new season resumes next month.

Boro supremo Wallace told Sky Sports News this week: "These points have been deducted because they have broken the rules – not once, not twice – but six times.

"It was a massively pivotal decision for the future of our club – because if you go into the National League carrying EFL costs – you'll loose half a million pounds – it would be difficult. But to do so at this time would be even more difficult because we don't know when crowds will be coming back, or to what sort of level.

"It was a really pivotal decision and we're absolutely delighted to see it. I still believe it's the right decision – I will always believe that.

"At the end of the day this wasn't about Macclesfield and Stevenage it was about tribunals and the right decisions so that sanctions act as the right deterrent.

"That's what the message is that comes from this decision."
