Two charged in connection with aggravated burglary in Hitchin

Detectives have charged two men in connection with an aggravated burglary in Hitchin, and are continuing to appeal for witnesses and doorbell footage.

At around 11.15pm on Saturday (27 September), officers were called following reports that a group of people had broken into two properties on Oughton Head Way.

Tools were used to gain entry and some watches, which were later recovered, were stolen. No injuries have been reported.

Jonas Loveridge, aged 46 and of Midland Road, Sandy, Bedfordshire, and Joe Loveridge, aged 26 and of Totternhoe Road, Eaton Bray, Dunstable, Bedfordshire, have been charged with aggravated burglary.

They appeared at Hatfield Magistrates' Court today (Monday 29 September) where they were remanded ahead of a hearing at St Albans Crown Court on Tuesday 28 October.

Detective Inspector Katy Northway, who is investigating, said: "I hope news of this successful charging decision is reassuring, and we are continuing to appeal for witnesses.

"I am keen to hear from anyone who may have information to help our investigation.

"Did you see a group of people acting suspiciously in the Oughton Head Way area late Saturday night, capture anything on your doorbell camera or have any further details?
