Update: Hitchin Westmill incident

Police were called at around 120pm on Saturday (February 26) to a report of concerns for the welfare of a woman, who was believed to be inside an address in Westmill Road, Hitchin.

Local police put road closures in place as a precaution, while a number of armed officers attended the scene and entered the property.

Residents told to stay indoors for their own safety while the incident was being investigated while Westmill Road was closed to traffic up to the junction of Redhill Road.

A search was carried out by officers but no-one was found to be inside the house.

Herts Police told Hitchin Nub News: "Enquiries continued throughout the day to trace the woman and she was later found safe and well.

"No offences took place."
