Wenzel's The Bakers have now opened in Hitchin town centre.

The new bakers in our town opened this weekend - and Hitchin Nub News took a peek.

The new store on 13 High Street - a matter of yards from Greggs near to the Hitchin Market Square - took over the site that used to house Tui's travel centre, next to the Vodafone store.

The company that first launched in 1975 had been busy fitting out the store, after obtaining planing permission for the installation of a front and rear shopfront, prior to opening for business.

Wenzel's said: "Our mission is to offer the best of baking at reasonable prices to our batch of lovely customers.

"As a family business, we bring that love to every bite, dedicating lots of pace and pounds to innovative product development and an incredible customer experience.

"After all, it wouldn't be a Wenzel's if you didn't leave with a smile - and a full belly."

However, the store might do well to update its official website - or buy a map to learn where Hitchin is - because, as you can see by our screen grab of their website (taken at 10:44am today, Monday, November 14), they have failed to add their new branch in our town under their list of Hertfordshire bakeries.
