What's On in Hitchin this weekend

Welcome to your weekly essential What's On guide in Hitchin for the weekend of Friday, May 27 through to Sunday, May 29.

Every Thursday we round up the best things to do in Hitchin over the coming days - with plenty of events in our town this coming weekend!

FRIDAY

Bingham String Quartet at Benslow Music

The Bingham Quartet return to Benslow on Friday 27 May at 8pm. Programme to include pieces by Caroline Shaw, Julian Broughton and Felix Mendelssohn. Tickets £20, FREE under 27s. 

Pre-concert dining also available £25. The Bingham String Quartet has gained an international reputation for their interpretation of the classical repertoire and fresh and exciting approach to new music. 

It has toured extensively in the United Kingdom and also performed in Europe, Australia, and the Middle East. Regular appearances in London include concerts at the Purcell Room and St Martin in the Fields. 

The quartet has performed and recorded with many other notable musicians including clarinettist David Campbell, pianist Nigel Clayton and cellist Raphael Wallfisch.

SATURDAY

Hitchin Camera Club Centenary Walk

A 1922 copy of Amateur Photography featured an article about the local camera club who had organised a photography walk for the National Federation.

To celebrate the occasion Hitchin Camera Club will be following the original route which in the main is exactly the same and would welcome the local community to come along. 

The club will provide refreshments at Christchurch, Bedford Road from 2pm to help walkers recover. 

Our website will be updated with further details prior to the walk. 

The walk will start 11am at Hitchin railway station and will go through Charlton and Gosmore before returning to Hitchin. 

This walk is approximately 10 kilometres (6 miles) and should take about three hours including time to take photos.
