Lee Allinson's Hendon proved too strong for Arlesey Town after they eased to a 6-0 victory on Tuesday evening at Hitchin Road.

The visitors from north west London impressed through a brace from the elegant Luca Allinson, with the powerful Solomon Sambou notching a goal, along with teammates Switters, Shaun Lucien and Sammy Gebrai.

On a sweltering evening, the visitors extra class proved too much for Chico Ramos' hard-working Blues in only their second game back.

While the result was emphatic, Arlesey deserve credit for never giving up in a competitive outing that would have boosted both sides fitness levels as the new season draws ever closer.

In a pleasingly high-tempo opening despite the debilitating heat, Hendon emerged dominant from the start with Arlesey keeper Reid twice denying Dwade James before foiling Liam Brooks. Sandwiched in between was Sambou's header which flew narrowly over the bar.

The pressure eventually told on 21 minutes when Allinson forced the ball home from close range to make it 1-0 after James had a shot well-saved by Reid.

The lead was soon doubled four minutes later when the Allinson grabbed his second to make it 2-0, after No8 Matt Ball was blocked by busy netminder Reid.

Allinson showed guile to go with his good technique by following up to disguise a neat finish.

Pride piqued, Chico's Arlesey rallied with the ever-lively Ryan Lamond drilling a powerful shot over the bar. Lamond linked well with colleagues and showed good physical presence allied with vision to be involved in the home side's best work during a difficult first half.

As the opening period ticked down Allinson nearly grabbed a first half treble, showing flair to cut inside from the right to curl one past Reid. Luckily for Arlesey, the ball thudded off the far post and away to safety.

However, moments before the interval Sambou made it 3-0 with an excellent finish with the outside of his right boot.

Worse was to come for the Hitchin Road outfit when Switters made it 4-0 only two minutes after the restart – after the Hendon half time substitute for Eddie Oshodi scored with a superb finish that showcased temperament as much as ability as he steered an outstanding shot home.

Hendon then made it 5-0 ten minutes into the second half though Lucien after a driving run down the left saw him cut in and expertly curl the ball into the net.

Understandably the tempo dropped after such a frenetic hour with a raft of changes from both sides lowering the intensity further.

There was still time for Hendon to make it half a dozen when Gebrai – who had hit the woodwork a few minutes previously - slotted home to seal a deserved triumph.

While the result will be a disappointment to Arlesey, who fielded three 17-year-olds, it will soon be forgotten when the cut and thrust of league football returns next month.

Despite their chastening defeat Arlesey will give anyone a game in their division, and are staffed with a squad designed to trouble sides.

Hendon, for their part, have seen boss Allinson assemble a team to be feared in the higher echelons next term, prompted by the strong Sambou in the heart of battle – alongside a succession of powerful but athletic footballers full of technical ability and tactical nous.

Thankfully the majority of teams Arlesey will face from next month will be nowhere near the level of the excellent Hendon.
