Stevenage 0-0 Portsmouth: Boro end August in fifth spot in League One

Stevenage ended the month of August in fifth spot in League One following an entertaining 0-0 draw with Portsmouth at the Lamex on Saturday.

Both teams had a player sent off when Pompey's Joe Rafferty and Boro's Jake Forster-Caskey were shown red cards by referee Simon Mather after the interval.

Earlier, Jamie Reid's header for Boro forced an excellent save from Will Norris early on, while Alex MacDonald's delivery should have led to the opening goal, but Aaron Pressley's poor shot when well placed flew over.

Rafferty and Forster-Caskey were sent off at the start of an eventful second half.

Substitute Elliott List found Roberts in the box with five minutes left to play, but the forward could not find the net.
