[.B]Stevenage clinched only their second league win of the season by beating Port Vale 2-1 at the Lamex on Tuesday evening.[.B]

A first half strike by Aramide Oteh on ten minutes put Boro 1-0 ahead with a neat finish.

Danny Newton's 53rd minute effort saw the home side double their lead.

However, just as they looked to be coasting home, a smart Devante Rodney left-footed drive flew past a static Jamie Cumming in goal, to reduce the deficit.

Despite a late onslaught by the Valiants Alex Revell's men held on for a deserved three points.

The win, which was Boro's first win since September, propelled the Broadhall Way outfit out of the relegation places and into 21st place.

With Stevenage's next home league game hopefully in front of returning fans, against rock-bottom Southend, things could be looking up for Revell and his battling boys.

In the meantime, Boro host League One leaders Hull City live on the BBC on Sunday, in the second round of the FA Cup.
