Stevenage boss Paul Tisdale hailed his side after goals from Jake Reeves, Chris Norris and Jake Taylor eased Boro to a well-earned 3-0 victory over Harrogate Town on Saturday.

While Boro eased to a comfortable victory over Simon Weaver's side, victory was based on an excellent work rate from his side.

The charismatic Boro boss joked after the match: "I congratulated the players at the end for sticking to the plan. If you play to the plan and were as bright and competitive as we were, then you'll have a chance in any game.

"We got an early goal and kept it solid which was pleasing."

Tisdale, whose Stevenage side moved up to 17th position in front of an attendance of nearly 3,000 at Broadhall Way, praised the backing from supporters.

"I actually listened today when that announcement went up and I wasn't expecting that number, so it's fantastic," he told Nub News after the match.

"It's about getting results but it's also about putting football on the pitch that people want to watch.

"We are a fledgling team in terms of putting something together than could be sustainable over a longer period of time, so it is early days.

"But scoring three goals again, with lots of shots - along with the fact we are a threat - means that hopefully people are enjoying what we are doing.

"Long may it continue."

Tisdale hailed his goalscorers as his side swept to victory against a Harrogate side that dropped to 13th after four defeats in their last five matches.

"It's all about confidence," Tisdale explained. "Luke Norris and Jake Taylor have confidence and they're scoring goals.

"Jake Reeves is becoming very good at what he does. You can set a field to that. You can put structure in place for that. He's becoming very good at what he does."

Tisdale also praised his defence, saying: "I'm pleased about the clean sheet. We were due one of those. That was pleasing.

"Although they were the better football team if you look at their passing and patterns, we were very effective...we've got players to be a top half team."

On Tuesday Boro travel to Tranmere, who were beaten 4-0 at home on Saturday by runaway League Two leaders Forest Green Rovers.
