Stevenage FC chairman Phil Wallace has agreed to let Robbie O'Keefe take on the managerial role at Biggleswade Town, while continuing as academy manager of Boro's acclaimed Category 3 academy.

The highly-respected O'Keefe is joining the struggling Waders while continuing his work progressing talented young players at the League Two academy.

The loyal O'Keefe, earned plaudits from many in and around the game for the calm way he guided Stevenage, following the departure of previous first team head coach Alex Revell prior to the appointment of Paul Tisdale.

Under O'Keefe's stewardship Boro also beat League One Milton Keynes on penalties to reach the second round of the FA Cup.

Many seasoned observers of Boro's straight-talking chairman will be familiar with his gruff but searingly honest pronouncements, with his latest statement staying true to form.

Wallace said: "Robbie believes he can do both jobs. I have been a chairman at that level for ten years and I am not so sure, since to be competitive as a manager it is almost 24/7 no matter the level.

"However, Robbie was there for us when we needed him and it is only fair that we allow him to pursue this opportunity if he wants to take it on.

"We will monitor it closely and if we think it is having an adverse effect on our academy, then we will withdraw our consent.

"Meanwhile, we wish him well and hope he can deliver success on the pitch for them".

On the pitch Paul Tisdale's Boro continued their impressive form by easing past Harrogate Town on Saturday.
