EXCLUSIVE: Stevenage FC have sounded out their favoured managerial candidate to replace Alex Revell.

The Lamex outfit moved to sack the dignified Revell after a poor run of form in League Two that saw them moored in 21st place, two points off the relegation trapdoor.

Despite the bookies making former boss Graham Westley favourite to replace Revell, Nub News understands that the club want highly-rated boss Andy Woodman instead.

The former Arsenal goalkeeping coach earned plaudits for the quality of his work at the North London giants, and is currently earning praise for steering The Ravens into the heady heights of fourth spot in a fiercely competitive division.

Nub News understands that Stevenage are extremely interested in the rising star in non-league managerial circles, with Woodman far and away their No1 choice.

However, Stevenage could face a fight on their hands as fellow League Two side Hartlepool are also interested in the 50-year-old.

Nub News also understands that Stevenage's location could work in their favour, after the highly-sought after Woodman has already turned down interest from Scunthorpe, as he would prefer to stay in the south.
