Dubbed as one of the most important games in the clubs history, Stevenage face Oldham in a bottom of the table clash of which the result will have major implications on both teams football league destiny.

Stevenage boss Steve Evans will be desperate for a win in his first home game in charge of the club. Whereas Oldham manager John Sheridan will be hoping his impressive away following of over 1000 fans from Greater Manchester can spur his team on to pulling away from the relegation zone.

Boro simply cannot afford to lose this relegation six pointer. A win in Evans' first home game in charge could spark a run of results to propel them away from the drop. A loss will only cement their place in certain peril and subsequently will be three points behind Oldham with a worse goal difference.

A much improved performance last week at Exeter is hopefully a sign of things to come, and Evans believed that his team should've left Devon with at least a point.

Two referee mistakes in that game (which have since been apologised for by the head of referees) mean Boro need to start picking up points rapidly with only eight games remaining.

Simply put, Stevenage need to win today and if they lose, their football league status could seriously be in trouble and sadly I can't see them escaping that troublesome situation.
