Exeter City 2-1 Stevenage

Boro lost to the Grecians in new boss Steve Evans first game in charge.

Sam Stubbs was the home side's hero as he grabbed his first two goals for the Devon club that saw them beat struggling Stevenage 2-1 at St James Park on Saturday to stay second in League Two.

Stubbs, son of former Bolton, Celtic and Everton defender Alan, made it 1-0 just before the half hour mark with a header from Jevani Brown's cross.

Boro levelled Sven minutes before half time when Elliott List crossed for Luke Norris to slot home from close range.

However, 23-year-old defender Stubbs put Exeter back in front with a second powerful header moments before the interval, once again on the end of a cross from Brown.

Stevenage remain in 22nd spot, three ponies ahead of Oldham, who they face in a crucial six-pointer at the Lamex on Saturday, in what will be Evans first home game in charge since the sacking of Paul Tisdale.

Match tickets for Boro's crucial League Two clash against Oldham Athletic this Saturday are now on sale.

Kicking off at 3pm Boro host the Latics in a must-win encounter, in what will be a vital 'six-pointer' in the battle for survival.
