Hertfordshire County Council is asking residents, businesses and visitors to share their views on how people travel across the county – as it starts work on a brand new Local Transport Plan.
The public engagement, which runs from 7 November to 19 December 2025, marks the first step in shaping a long-term vision for how Hertfordshire's roads, rail, bus, cycling and walking networks will evolve in the years ahead.
The new plan will guide how the council and its partners improve transport options to make travel safer, more accessible and more sustainable — supporting local communities, protecting the environment and boosting the county's economy.
Cllr Paul Zukowskyj, Executive Member for Environment, Transport and Growth, said: "Together, we can shape a transport system that helps people move around more easily, safely and sustainably. Whether you walk your children to school, take the bus to work, drive for your job or use a wheelchair to get to the shops, we want to hear from you.
Your views will help us make Hertfordshire a safer, more accessible and sustainable place to live and work."
The draft vision for the Local Transport Plan focuses on three key themes:
- Safe – making sure everyone feels secure when travelling and reducing road danger
- Accessible – ensuring transport is reliable, inclusive and easy to use
- Sustainable – supporting greener, healthier ways to travel and protecting nature
Residents can take part in the online engagement by visiting letstalktransport.hertfordshire.gov.uk/localtransportplan before 19 December 2025.
Feedback from this first stage will help shape the draft Local Transport Plan, which will go out for full public consultation in 2026.
