Hitchin community groups, centres and pubs come together by offering to open up for people to watch Her Majesty The Queen's Funeral

A number of Hitchin community groups, centres and establishments have come together.

Ahead of the Queen's funeral next week, a number of Hitchin community groups, centres and establishments have come together.

Molly Malones Pub, Ravidassia Community Centre and Christchurch have offered to open up for people to come together on Monday (September 19) and watch the funeral of our late monarch.

Assistant Community Engagement Officer Danny Pearson said: "Understandably some people want to watch the Queen's funeral with others and share their grief, memories, and stories together.

"I've been talking with various faith groups, community centres and local leaders and our community has come together again and been able to provide locations where people can meet.

"Hopefully you'll agree that this is a good spread of venues across the town which will help people from different geographical areas in Hitchin."

Ravidassia Community Centre - They will be open for anyone from the area to come and watch the live broadcast of the Queen's funeral with others from the community. The centre will be open from 10am to anyone who wishes to attend. Hot drinks will be served. Ravidassia Community Centre, 2-4 Knowl Piece, Wilbury Way, Hitchin, SG4 0TY

Molly Malones Pub - They will be open from 9am to say final goodbyes to a remarkable woman who dedicated her life to this country. Please feel free join them as we unite in grief and sorrow as a community as we watch the final journey of our Majesty. Teas and biscuits will be served. Christchurch - They will be open for anyone from the area to come and watch the live broadcast of the Queen's funeral with others from the community. The church will be open from 10am until 1pm. Refreshments will also be served. If you would like to share in this significant event with others then you will be very welcome. The church is located on Bedford Road, next to the Health Centre and across the road from Waitrose. There is a car park adjacent to the church. Christchurch, Bedford Rd, Hitchin SG5 1HF

The Orange Tree in Hitchin will also open from 10am for patrons who wish to watch the state funeral in a communal setting.
