Hitchin Nub News First Glimpse: Bridgetown Monroe cocktail bar on Bucklersbury

Did you know Hitchin town centre has a fully fledged cocktail bar?

Bridgetown Monroe cocktail lounge bar has been open for a week, after years of planning and hard work behind the scenes.

Imagine Miami South Beach meets Bucklersbury - with the music, the party scene and the chilled out vibes, all with a twist of rum, neon and pink, in the heart of Hitchin.

The brilliant new addition to Hitchin's thriving nightlife has been five years in the making, after owner Chris Dodd displayed serious reserves of determination, amid countless setbacks due to the Covid pandemic ruining plans to open three years ago.

However, Chris never flinched, and his dreams to open a Miami-style cocktail bar eventually came true - after plenty of effort.

Nub News paid a visit at the weekend - we'd like to say it was purely for research purposes, but we also sampled the delicious rum-based cocktails on offer.

While mixing us a selection of superb rum-based cocktails including Rum Daquiri, Rum Punch, Mai Tai, Rum Expresso and good old Mojito's with a distinct Bridgetown Monroe influence, Chris told us over the bar on Friday evening : "I'm so happy that we're finally open.

"We put a lot of hard work into opening our doors - and the response has been great.

"Bridgetown Monroe is influenced by Miami and the vibes from South Beach - we're really excited by the brilliant feedback we've had so far. People have been coming in for a Friday cocktail and staying all afternoon.

"It's been great to see everyone enjoying our beautiful drinks, a relaxing party atmosphere and first class hospitality."

The bar is open from 11am Wednesday to Sunday, with late night closing on Fridays and Saturdays.

See Hitchin Nub News soon for our in-depth Up Close interview feature with Chris, owner of the brilliant new Hitchin bar, Bridgetown Monroe.
