Appeal after jewellery stolen during home burglary in Hitchin
Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a burglary in Hitchin.
The incident occurred between 8.30pm and 8.45pm on Tuesday (17 October), when a home on Walnut Way was broken in to.
It is reported that two people gained entry to the property before taking several items of jewellery.
One of the suspects is described as a white male and of slim build who was wearing a piece of red, dirty fabric that covered the lower half of his face.
The items that have been reported as stolen include:
- An engagement ring that is described as being a solitaire-style ring with a gold band, platinum shoulders and plain diamond
- A cameo brooch made with real bone in the 1960s
- Several pieces of real amber jewellery, including pendants and a large ring
- A 9ct gold locket
- A ring with a thin gold band that was mounted on a wire and turned into a necklace.
Detective Constable Remi Whates, from the Local Crime Unit, said: "Our enquiries into this incident are continuing, and we are appealing for anyone with information to please come forward.
"This was a distressing incident, and we are releasing the descriptions of the items in case anyone recognises them or sees them for sale online so we can hopefully return them to their rightful owner. A number of these items also hold huge sentimental value.
"Additionally, if you have any CCTV footage or information that could assist the investigation, no matter how small or insignificant you think the details you have may be, please get in touch."
