Jame Reid's late winner sealed a vital victory for Steve Evans promotion-chasing Stevenage in a tight match at the Lamex on Tuesday evening.

Reid's goal came in the 79th minute to make it three goals in two games against The Alex this term, following his brace to hand Boro a 2-1 comeback victory at Gresty Road last September.

Boro came into the game on the back of an excellent result and performance during the 3-1 victory over Walsall on Saturday to show their quality after a poor run of form.

The former Ipswich striker's winners at Broadhall Way made it two wins from two and three in four for Steve Evans Boro following a sticky patch mostly caused by injuries and exits.

Three Things We Learned

1 - Keep it on the floor

The style of play of late has been disappointing to say the least. Lots of hopeful punts forward and relying on second balls has seen our form drop.

Saturday that all changed. The silky passing moves that we'd seen earlier in the season were back in abundance, emphasised by Luke Norris' well worked goal.

Tuesday we weren't at our best, but was an improvement on recent weeks when we've rarely troubled the opposition keeper.

2 - Strength through adversity

In no way are we out of out of the recent slump, but we're improving slowly.

Defensive solidity with the emergency signing of Jon McCracken and Kane Smith stepping up in the absence of Luther Wildin has propelled the team to two wins in three days.

This has come at a key time with the long trip up to promotion rivals Carlisle on Saturday.

3 - A tough run coming up

Three tough consecutive fixtures await Boro, and I think these will really decide are promotion credentials.

Our form against the top teams in the league has not been incredible this season, so we need to win at least two of these games I believe to stay away from the chasing pack.

It'll be good to see Luther and Terence Vancooten back in the side, and just at the right time so we can kick on in the final 10 games.
