Stevenage beat Crawley after late drama as Stockdale saves last-minute penalty

There was late drama at Broadfield as Crawley missed a last-minute penalty after Elliot Osborne's 83rd minute strike which helped Stevenage to a 1-0 victory.

An excellent strike by substitute Osborne handed victory to Alex Revell's side, giving them their third win in their past four away games.

Assistant head coach Lee Bradbury took charge of the Reds with boss John Yems sitting out with the first of his two-match touchline ban.

Jordan Maguire-Drew, one of four players recalled to the Crawley team side, had an early free-kick saved by visiting goalkeeper David Stockdale, in place of Jamie Cumming.

Boro forward Luke Norris tested keeper Glenn Morris, before heading a free-kick over from close range.

Morris then saved from Jack Roles, on loan from Spurs, making his full Stevenage debut, before Stockdale saved from Jordan Tunnicliffe.

Elliott List saw his angled shot fly narrowly wide with 14 minutes to go, but the home side failed to note the danger from Boro's top scorer as he set up substitute Osborne - who fired home from the edge of the area.

Crawley fluffed their lines in the last minute when Tom Nichols' penalty was superbly saved by Stockdale after Arthur Read brought down Maguire-Drew.

Stevenage remain in 21st spot, but are now a full nine points away from the drop zone.
